Two members of Congress and a state consultant from Illinois have written to the College of Illinois at Chicago to complain about “the disturbing racist imagery and tropes [used] by a professor on the UIC Faculty of Dentistry. There are additionally extra stories of this professor utilizing racist imagery and tropes of their educating. This unacceptable conduct has no place in our society, not to mention in an academic setting.”

They added, “A latest revelation made us conscious of a noose showing in a PowerPoint presentation for seven years, which is disturbing. This professor has continued to show with none response or motion from the college. College students of colour have reportedly continued to be focused on the college from being requested about their ’pure hair’ to being referred to as the n-word.” The letter didn’t establish the professor.

The Chicago Tribune reported that Adrienne Nazon, vice chairman of exterior relations and communications, stated college directors launched an investigation into the allegations and can reply to the legislators. “UIC doesn’t tolerate discrimination or harassment in any type wherever on campus. The college is dedicated to a secure, respectful and welcoming campus atmosphere for college students and employees, each in and out of doors of the classroom,” she stated.
