Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane, who performed a crime-solving psychologist on TV sequence Cracker and the beloved half-giant Hagrid within the Harry Potter motion pictures, has died.
He was 72.
Coltrane’s agent Belinda Wright stated he died Friday at a hospital in Scotland. She didn’t present a trigger.
Coltrane got here to fame as a hard-bitten detective within the Nineteen Nineties sequence Cracker, for which he received greatest actor on the British Academy Tv Awards three years working.

“Robbie was one of many funniest folks I’ve met and used to maintain us laughing consistently as children on the set,” it reads. “I’ve particularly fond recollections of him retaining our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ after we had been all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling tales and cracking jokes to maintain morale up. I really feel extremely fortunate that I acquired to satisfy and work with him and really unhappy that he’s handed. He was an unimaginable actor and a beautiful man.”
Wright stated Coltrane is survived by his sister Annie Rae, his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell and his youngsters Spencer and Alice.
