Al-Shabab extremist group assaults resort in Somali capital


MOGADISHU, Somalia — The extremist group al-Shabab claimed accountability Sunday for an unfolding armed assault on a resort within the Somali capital.

Al-Shabab stated in a broadcast by itself radio frequency Sunday that stated its fighters attacked the resort Villa Rose, which has a restaurant common with authorities and safety officers.

The resort isn’t removed from the presidential palace in central Mogadishu, the place a blast was heard, adopted by gunfire.

There was no quick phrase on any casualties. Such militant assaults are frequent in Mogadishu and different components of the Horn of Africa nation.

Al-Shabab opposes Somalia’s federal authorities, which is backed by African Union peacekeepers, and seeks to take energy and implement a strict model of Sharia legislation.
