Minister's 'Noida Towers-Like Demolition' Warning After Bengaluru Flooding

Days after heavy rain and floods all however paralysed Bengaluru, a Karnataka Minister has warned that unlawful constructions might be “razed just like the Noida Twin Towers”.

Bengaluru’s civic physique has marked out over 700 encroachments which are believed to have blocked storm water drains throughout town, which precipitated huge flooding within the IT metropolis referred to as India’s Silicon Valley.

The demolition drive will proceed till the encroachments are cleared, Karnataka Income Minister R Ashoka stated immediately.

“We’ll raze unlawful constructions on the traces of the Twin Towers demolished just lately,” stated the minister, referring to the managed explosion to tear down the Supertech towers, which have been constructed illegally.

The buildings, which have been taller than the Qutub Minar, have been introduced down inside seconds by 3,700 kg of explosives.

“We’ll take motion towards the builders and officers who had granted permissions,” stated Mr Ashoka.

The minister blamed the Congress for clearing plans for buildings close to greater than a dozen lakes.

“The federal government earlier than 2005 allowed layouts for buildings on 13-14 lakes. That is the principle downside,” he stated.

Bulldozers and excavators have been at work throughout town since yesterday to tug down what they name unlawful constructions on storm water drains, which precipitated flooding within the metropolis.

Officers say house buildings, faculty buildings and parks have blocked storm water drains.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated nobody might be spared.

“I’ve given a transparent course to the officers to take away the encroachment whoever has constructed constructions on the stormwater drains and interrupted the circulation of rainwater. This I’ve made very clear on day one. There isn’t a query of any partisanship on the problem…,” the Chief Minister stated on Monday.

“Whoever they’re, we won’t spare them. All people suffered throughout floods, be it IT-BT individuals or the frequent individuals,” he stated.

The drive won’t cease till encroachments are cleared, Mr Bommai stated.
